Chaired and co-chaired by Prof. Tequila A. L. Harris and Dr. Kristianto Tjiptowidjojo, respectively, the 22nd ISCST held in Atlanta, GA September 8-11, 2024, brought together over 100 of the most prolific scientists and engineers from around the world conducting research in coating science and technology! The theme of the plenaries was Energy and Sustainability. Technical talks and posters during the symposium featured contributions from experts in academia, government and industry on topics including batteries, fuel cells, solar cells, perovskites, renewable materials and recycling, in addition to classic topics such as coating fundamentals and applications, drying and curing, and flow solidification and microstructure development.
The symposium featured a short course sponsored by FOM Technologies and led by Dr. Edwin (Ted) Lightfoot on coating technology and coating science. The short course was followed by a tour at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where participants were exposed to a modular pilot scale roll-to-roll facility equipped with flexo, gravure and inkjet printing in addition to slot die coating, a fully sustainable LEED 1000 building and student maker spaces. The opening session, sponsored by 3M included posters, networking and exhibitions from vendors offering products and services of interest for the coating industry such as RadTech, Hirano Tecseed, FOM Technologies, and McNally Industries.
